There is so much attention on cyber security nowadays that we may forget that hard copies of documents are just as important to secure and properly dispose of when the time comes.

Capitol View will be offering free, on-site shredding services on May 4 from 11am–1pm. Members can bring up to 100 pounds of documents to our office during this time to shred them on-site.

Here’s a short list of sensitive materials that should be shred once they’re expired or no longer needed:

• Credit union or bank statements
• Check duplicates
• Expired debit or credit cards
• Tax documents
• Medical records and statements
• Documents that include usernames, passwords, or common security question answers
• Pictures of that time you got a perm
