Annual Meeting & Board Nominations

This year’s Annual Meeting and board member elections will held the evening of September 8, 2021 at Jester Park Lodge. A box lunch meal will be provided for attendees to eat at the event or to take home. Doors will open at 5pm and voting will last until the meeting begins at 5:30pm. Following the meeting, there will be a drawing for cash prizes. Tickets are $5 and are available until August 27. Contact or visit us for tickets.

Board Member Elections

Every year Capitol View Credit Union holds elections for our board of directors. This year there will be three seats elected which will each serve three year terms. The election will be held at the annual meeting on Wednesday, September 8 at Jester Park Lodge.

As of June 25, members running for the board include Randal Anderson*, Larry Faber, Cornelius Keys, Travis Reed, and Matt Scheetz (* denotes incumbent). Candidate bios are available on page 4 of this newsletter. While the nominating committee is no longer accepting nominations, they will be accepted by petition to the Board Secretary, Lisa Kolontar, until July 10. There will be no nominations from the floor at the annual meeting.

Beginning the week of July 12, members may request an absentee ballot if they cannot attend the meeting and vote in person. You may email cvcu@capview.com, visit our office in person, or call us at 515-348-8350 to request an absentee ballot. All absentee ballots must be received by the election committee not later than August 27 in order to be considered valid.

Board Candidate Bios

Randal Anderson* – “I have lived most of my life around the Des Moines metro area. I am a veteran having served overseas during Desert Storm.  After the military and college, I worked as a Sr. Programmer/Analyst for over 30 years.   I have been a member of Capitol View Credit Union for 33 years and have been proud to serve on the board and have learned a lot in the process and would be more than happy to continue to serve on the board of the credit union that has been so good to me over the years.”

Larry Faber – “I retired from Iowa Workforce Development in 2020 after 36 years as a Workforce Advisor.  I have worked in the Des Moines, Decorah, and Mason City offices. I have been a member of the credit union for 37 years.  I currently have five active individual or joint accounts and have obtained several loans. I graduated from Dowling High School and received my BA from Grand View College in Business Administration. I currently reside in Mason City. I am running for my first term. Thank you for your consideration.”

Cornelius Keys – “I was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa where I graduated from East Waterloo High School. I am the father of three wonderful kids and the husband to a wonderful wife. I lived in Des Moines off and on since 1999 and relocated the family here permanently in 2006 with the hopes of growing as an entrepreneur. I am happy to say that was a great decision for our family all the way around. I have been active in the community giving time and putting in effort to help our veterans in need and the homeless population as much as possible. I am honored to even be looked at as a candidate for the board ,and if selected it would be my pleasure to serve in any capacity.”

Travis Reed – Travis is a Des Moines resident and has been a member of the credit union for 8 years.  He has been a real estate agent in Iowa for the last 15 years and has a passion for helping people achieve their financial dreams.  Travis graduated from Upper Iowa University with a major in Marketing and a minor in Human Resources.

Matthew Scheetz – Matthew has been a Capitol View Credit Union member for nearly a dozen years. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. Matt and his wife, Emma Parker, live with their two dogs in Beaverdale. He has over five years of banking experience through his previous employment at US Bank. Matt is currently employed by the Iowa Department of Revenue in the tax management division. Thank you for your consideration.
