Annual Meeting February 22nd, 2008
The Capitol View Credit Union annual meeting will be held on Friday February 22nd, 2008 at the Izaak Walton League, 4343 George Flagg Parkway, Des Moines, IA. Social hour will be held from 6pm to 7pm. Dinner will be at 7 pm, and the meeting will start at 8 pm.
 
Members will elect three board members to each serve a three year term. Nominations will not be taken from the floor. The nominating committee has submitted the following list of candidates: RJ Hellstern, Carl Martin, Stan McElderry, Penny Maxwell, Bert Polzin, Barb Ratcliffe, Tom Schieffer. Members who are 16 years of age as of February 22nd, 2008 may vote in the election. Absentee ballots are available at your request if you are unable to vote at the meeting. After the meeting is over and the results of the election are announced the credit union will draw for cash door prizes and play several games of bingo for prizes. Capitol View Credit Union is becoming a member of the Shared Branching network, a fast-growing national and international network of credit unions that allow members of other credit unions use their branches to conduct basic teller transactions. What does this mean to you? CONVENIENCE starting in March 2008!
 
How Does Shared Branching Work?
 
You will be able to conduct the following transactions at CU Service Center Shared Branching locations:
• Deposits
• Withdraw funds
• Transfer funds between accounts
• Balance inquiries
• Process loan payments and advances
• Purchase traveler’s checks, official checks and money orders at select locations (availability of service and fees vary at each location)
 
Services that cannot be done at a shared branch:
• Become a member of a credit union
• Add new services or accounts
• Order checks
• Make changes to your accounts, including name and address changes
• Negotiate Third party checks

You will need your credit union name, member account number, a valid photo ID, and the last 4 digits of your social security number in order to conduct a transaction at a CU Service Center. IRA Reminders
Current IRA Deposit holders please use the ending balance on your 12-31-2007 statement as your fair market value for 2007.
 
2007 contributions can be made until April 15, 2008.
We offer Traditional, Roth, and Education IRA plans.

The Iowa Credit Union Foundation is a non-profit whose mission is: To help Iowans build wealth, responsibility and independence. As part of that mission, the Foundation maintains the Family Involvement Board (FIB) scholarship program that encourages young adults and nontraditional students to learn about the credit union movement and to prepare them for future challenges, both inside and outside the credit union movement.
 
Two different scholarship programs are available:
1. A scholarship program for high school students planning to enter college (high school scholarship), and
 
2. A scholarship for nontraditional-aged and continuing education students (nontraditional scholarship).
The high school scholarship competition will award a total of $3,750. The first-place prize is $1,500; second place is $1,000; third place is $750 and fourth place is $500. The nontraditional scholarship category will award two $1,000 scholarships.
